About the Permanent Secretary About the Permanent Secretary

Mr Nashandi is a Namibian, and hold a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Univertsity of Namibia, a Master of Science degree in Financial Economics from the University of London as well as a Masters degree in Development Finance from the Universirty of Stellenbosch in South Africa.


Mr Nashandi gained experience in policy formulation and implementation, having worked as a Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for, amongst others, fiscal policy management and government accounting management. As an Economist, Mr Nashandi has understanding and skills in formulating policies and implementing developmental plans for the social economic development of the country.


Since 01 July 2015, Mr Nashandi is the Permanent Sectetary of the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, and is at the center of initiating, implementing and coordinating governments efforts to eradicate poverty in Namibia, and is responsible for the administration of social welfare programs.
Mr Nashandi has understanding of macroeconomic and financial issues, and is very passionate about social programmes for sustainable development and for upliftment of our the vulnerable and poor persons.
